Presentation Dexter Remote Handling System
On Tuesday, March 8 HIT and Oxford Technologies have presented the new Dexter 20 remote handling manipulator. The system was revealed at the Dutch Belgian Haptics Meeting in Leuven. Almost all Dutch and Belgian haptics-related science and industry instances were represented at this conference.
Besides presenting the manipulator, the team behind Dexter 20 expressed their interest in applications outside the remote handling industry. Possible applications include haptic research or rehabilitation of paraplegics and stroke patients. Such injuries are mostly characterized by loss of hand-arm motor control and the accompanied arm-hand functionality loss. By intensive training with manipulators, patients can (re) learn motor control.
